RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Adopt Plans and Special Provisions for the San Juan Grade Road Slope Repair at Milepost (MP) 8.63 Project, Project No. 6111; and
b. Authorize the Director of Public Works, Facilities and Parks to advertise the "Notice to Bidders" in the Monterey County Weekly.

SUMMARY:
Adopting the Plans and Special Provisions and authorizing the Public Works, Facilities and Parks Department (PWFP) to advertise the San Juan Grade Road Slope Repair at MP 8.63, Project No. 6111 (Project), will allow the PWFP to proceed with the construction phase of the Project and solicit construction bids. PWFP will return to the Board after opening bids and determining the lowest responsible bidder to award the Project.

DISCUSSION:
During the winter storms of 2017, a number of county roads were affected by the heavy rains and excessive storm water flows. On April 24, 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved a list of 2017 Winter Storm Projects that were obligated for reimbursement. Since that time, staff has been providing update reports to the Capital Improvement Committee, Budget Committee, and Board. This repair site is on that 2017 Winter Storm Projects list. The Project consists of the installation of a block wall system, drainage system, slope repair and roadway paving, including but not limited to clearing and grubbing, and traffic control. Project limits are along San Juan Grade Road three and a half miles north of the intersection with Crazy Horse Canyon Road.
