RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Economic Development Committee receive a presentation from the Monterey Peninsula Airport District.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey Peninsula Airport District is a California Public Agency and was created in 1941. The District is governed by five publicly elected Board Members. The District is not incorporated into the city of the county and its boundaries encompass the cities of Carmel, Del Rey Oaks, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Sand City and portion of Seaside, Pebble Beach, Carmel Highlands, and the west end of Carmel Valley and the Monterey-Salinas Highway to Laureles Grade Road. Over the years, the airport has experienced continual change and updating in areas of physical infrastructure, staffing, air lines, types of aircraft, military usage, and most of all community growth and needs.
This presentation will give a brief summary of past and current changes, including communication with stakeholders and funders.
