RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive the 2020 Economic Contributions of Monterey County Agriculture report from the Agricultural Commissioner.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The 2020 Economic Contributions of Monterey County Agriculture report is the third in the Crop Report Plus Series and seeks to quantify agriculture’s total economic contribution. The report goes beyond the crop report and shows the importance of agriculture in Monterey County as well as its ripple effects into our community.
This report also explores ecosystem services provided by agricultural lands. Services such as wildlife habitat, wildfire protection and other non-market services. The report shows the diversity of our agricultural industry, from farmlands to rangelands.

None.
FINANCING:
Costs associated with the production of this report are included in the FY 2020-21 budget.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
Agriculture is the largest contributor to the County’s economy. This report quantifies the contribution provided by agriculture.
