a. Adopt a Resolution confirming the appointment of Ray Bullick, the Director of the Monterey County Health Department, as Acting Director of Behavioral Health for the County Health Department, the term of which appointment shall be limited to a twelve month period from the date of approval of the appointment by the Director of the State of California Department of Mental Health ("CDMH"); and
b. Authorize Chair of the Board of Supervisors to execute a letter to CDMH announcing the appointment of Mr. Bullick as Acting Director of Behavioral Health

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Adopt a Resolution confirming the appointment of Ray Bullick, the Director of the Monterey County Health Department, as Acting Director of Behavioral Health for the County Health Department, the term of which appointment shall be limited to a twelve month period from the date of approval of the appointment by the Director of the State of California Department of Mental Health ("CDMH"); and
b. Authorize Chair of the Board of Supervisors to execute a letter to CDMH announcing the appointment of Mr. Bullick as Acting Director of Behavioral Health
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Behavioral Health Bureau is one of seven bureaus of the Monterey County Health Department. The Director of Behavioral Health serves as the Behavioral Health Bureau Chief and reports directly to the Director of Health. The County of Monterey recently opened a recruitment to fill the current vacancy in the position of the Director of Behavioral Health.
Appointment of an Acting Director of Behavioral Health is essential during the pendency of the recruitment. A key assignment of the Acting Director of Behavioral Health Director will be to oversee the Health Department's Behavioral Health processes and activities until the vacancy in the position of the Director of Behavioral Health is permanently filled.
