RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors authorize the Purchasing Manager for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) to execute Amendment No. 9 to the Agreement (A-10502/MYA597) with Natividad Medical Center Volunteer Auxiliary for Volunteer Management Services at NMC, extending the Agreement from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2015 and adding $90,675 for a revised total Agreement amount not to exceed $801,750.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Over the period of one calendar year Natividad Medical Center currently utilizes approximately one hundred (100) volunteers to assist in providing various services throughout the hospital to assist employees and physicians with various overall hospital operations. These funds requested in amendment number 9 are used to cover the costs of management oversight and ensure appropriate allocation of volunteer resources.

All hospital volunteers are required to complete the hospitals standard education materials, and to be in compliance with all Joint Commission standards and with all state and federal regulations. Therefore, it is recommended that NMC Volunteer Auxiliary continue to employee their existing manager to oversee these services which amounts to $90,675 per year.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Counsel has reviewed and approved this Amendment No. 9 as to legal form and risk provisions. Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved this Amendment No. 9 as to fiscal provisions.
