RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Receive the Notice of Adjustment of the Annual Salary of the Members of the Board of Supervisors, consistent with the salary increase (1.4 percent) provided to the Judges as provided in Section 2.04.370C of the County of Monterey Code, effective March 8, 2014; retroactive to July 1, 2013.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Section 2.04.370C of the County of Monterey Code requires that salary of the members of the Board of Supervisors be adjusted by the same percentage rate applicable to the office of Judge. By direction of the Judicial Council of California, the Judges of Monterey County received a 1.4 percent salary increase retroactive to July 1, 2013.
According to the provisions of the County of Monterey Code, the adjustment may be made effective no less than ten days after the date of the Board Meeting when the Notice of Adjustment is provided to the Board. As such, this salary adjustment pursuant to the Code will be made effective on March 8, 2014 (the beginning of the pay period that is ten days after the Board Meeting date). This salary adjustment is consistent with the implementation Memorandum from the Judicial Council of California (attached) retroactive to July 1, 2013.
Please note that the adjustments provided in Section 2.04.0370C are automatic; action by the Board of Supervisors is not required or necessary for this adjustment to go into effect.
