Adopt a Resolution:

RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution:

a. Authorizing the expenditure of $4,032,778 from the Capital Projects Fund 404, Unit 8174 Appropriation Unit RMA015, as matching funds for the conditional AB 900 Phase II award of $36,295,000 from the State of California for the Jail Expansion project; and
b. Authorizing and directing the CAO, RMA Director and the Sheriff to take such other and further actions as may be necessary or appropriate to meet the State's requirements for the award of the AB 900 Phase II funding.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On December 6, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Resolution No. 11-377 authorizing Sheriff Scott K. Miller to sign and submit an application for a local adult detention facility AB 900 construction grant in the amount of $80 million, and making other necessary and appropriate findings and declarations supporting the AB 900 construction grant application. The application was submitted and found worthy of funding at the Corrections Standards Authority (CSA) Board Meeting on March 8, 2012. The CSA had $200 million in funds available for conditional awards to medium sized counties. The total requested amount for projects considered worthy of funding was in excess of $400 million. Monterey County was ranked fourth with the first three ranked counties conditional awards totaling in excess of $220 million, leaving Monterey County with no award.
