RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign Amendment #1 to Agreement #A-12894 with Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley adding $43,677, effective February 1, 2016, for services for the home-delivered meal program, increasing the total contract amount to $320,151.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Meals on Wheels senior nutrition program provides nutritious meals to residents of Monterey County. The program provides delivery of frozen meals and hot lunches to homes of participants or to senior centers.
This amendment provides one-time-only federal funding to Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley for outreach services for the home-delivered nutrition program in Salinas, North, and South Monterey County regions.
The amendment will also correct a clerical error in the original contract by reducing the number of service units in the Rural home-delivered meals program from 40,000 to 20,000.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Auditor-Controller and Purchasing have reviewed and approved this Amendment. County Counsel has approved the Amendment as to form.
FINANCING:
Federal funding is provided by the Older American's Act. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues in SOC010 are included in the FY 2015-16 Adopted Budget. Approval of this action has no impact on the County General Fund contributions.
