RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Authorize the District Attorney of the County of Monterey, on behalf of the County, to submit proposals to the California Victim Compensation Board, and to execute on behalf of the County the Grant Award Agreement including any extension or amendments thereof, in the amount of $350,949 for the period of July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029.

SUMMARY:
The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office relies on a variety of State grants to provide a portion of the financial support required by the Department for the services it provides in the County.

Funding for this program is expected to continue in FY 2026-27. The California Victim Compensation Board requires the recipient departments to submit an application to renew funding for the upcoming fiscal year even though there is an established relationship between the County and the funding agency. The specific grants and administering State agencies for which this authorization is being requested is through the California Victim Compensation Board.

DISCUSSION:
Approval of the recommended action will allow the District Attorney to submit the approved Board Resolution as verification of Board approval granting authority to sign the grant agreements for renewal of funding for those designated ongoing programs, The ongoing grant agreements and/or amendments will be based on similar terms as existing agreements.
