RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Office to sign Amendment No. 8 to extend the term of the Agreement RFP#10001, which includes an extension until June 30, 2013 with Aramark Correctional Services for inmate commissary items and food service operations at the County Jail.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Aramark Correctional Services currently provides inmate commissary items and food service operations at the County Jail. The current agreement will expire on February 28, 2013 and we would like to continue under a month to month basis as needed with the same terms and conditions. The Sheriff's Office has a business need to continue the agreement on a month to month basis up to four (4) months and including through June 30, 2013, while the County concludes the negotiating process and brings forth to the Board of Supervisors a new proposed agreement derived from the current Request for Proposal process.
The purpose of this amendment is simply to continue under the same terms and condition in a month-to-month agreement for providing said services while the County publicly solicits for a new agreement for services.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has approved the recommended Renewal and Amendment No. 8 to Agreement (RFP#10001) as to legal form.
FINANCING:
There is no impact on the General Fund Contribution due to the recommendation.
