RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Monterey County Public Defenders Association Unit D for the period July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2016.
SUMMARY / DISCUSSION:
On May 14, 2014, MCPDA Unit D ratified a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the County of Monterey. The terms and conditions of the MOU are now submitted for approval.
The MCPDA provides for employee contributions to CalPERS and other changes to wages and benefits.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The MCPDA Unit D members and staff contributed to the development of the MOU, as presented.
FINANCING:
The annualized cost for the MCPDA agreement is $69,891 in FY 2014-15 and $106,934 in FY 2015-16 for the Public Defender's Office. The cumulative impact of the MOU totals $176,825 by FY 2015-16. The costs for FY 2014-15 were included in the FY 2014-15 Adopted Budget.
