Consider proposed member of the Board of Supervisors' appointments to various Standing Committees and Non-County Entities for calendar year 2024 as recommended by the incoming Chair of the Board of Supervisors AND consider creation, dissolution and/or continuation of certain Board of Supervisors Ad Hoc Committees.

Report
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Consider the proposed member of the Board of Supervisors' appointments to various Standing Committees and Non-County Entities as proposed by the incoming Chair; and,
b. Consider the following options for each of Board of Supervisors Ad Hoc Committees:
i. Creation or dissolution from 2024 appointments list; or
ii. Confirm appointments and establish new termination date.

SUMMARY:
In March 2022, the Board of Supervisors (Board) adopted policy language establishing the rotation of appointments to standing committees with three-year terms, sequentially by district, and continued confirmation of members to ad hoc committees and appointments to non-county entities at the beginning of each calendar year.

DISCUSSION:
Board Policy G-10 (Exhibit A) addresses Board standing and ad hoc committees, non-county entities to which the Board makes appointments, and the process for making such appointments. The policy set forth a rotating membership for standing committees with three-year terms and continued the confirmation of ad hoc committees and appointments to non-county entities on an annual basis.

Standing Committees
The rotational sequence for standing committee appointments commenced on January 17, 2023, following Board approval. However, staff recently identified an error in the approved rotation schedule related to the Equal Opportunity Committee. The schedule requires approval by the Board as noted in the redlined Exhibit B.
