RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Accept and approve the Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMS) Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2013-14.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The County of Monterey Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMS) has completed an annual report on the fiscal year 2013-14 activities of the Agency and EMS system data.
Sections of the report are dedicated to describing both the state and local EMS Agency mandates. The report also provides a review and update of Fiscal Year 2013-2014 initiatives developed and progress made following the process recommended by Citygate Associates report, Ambulance System Issues Review and Analysis of Options, October 30, 2013 and the Board's direction.
This Board report supports the Monterey County Health Department 2011-2015 Strategic Plan Initiative Number 3 - Ensure access to culturally and linguistically appropriate, customer friendly, quality health services, and it supports one or more of the ten essential public health services, specifically Number 9 - Evaluate effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
No other agencies are involved in the proposed Board action. A copy of the report is on file with the Clerk to the Board.
FINANCING:
All costs associated with this report were included in the Health Department's Emergency Medical Services Agency Fiscal Year 2014-15 Adopted Budget (4000-HEA006-8109). There is no impact to the County General Fund Contribution.
