a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with Monterey Peninsula College for $195,782 to provide Expanded Subsidized Employment Work Study positions to CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work customers for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign up to three (3) amendments to this agreement where the total amendments do not exceed 10% ($19,578) of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services to sign an agreement with Monterey Peninsula College for $195,782 to provide Expanded Subsidized Employment Work Study positions to CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work customers for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017; and

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Expanded Subsidized Employment (ESE) is a subsidized employment opportunity authorized under WIC Section 11322.63 and 11322.64 as approved in Assembly Bill 74. Work study, as defined in the CDSS Manual of Policies & Procedures 42-701(w) (5), is a type of subsidized employment in which the placements are made through a college where a Welfare-to-Work participant is enrolled and making satisfactory progress.
