RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt an ordinance amending section 12.24.020 of the Monterey County Code to establish a stop intersection on Pollock Lane at the north entrance to Pesante Road in Prunedale in the unincorporated area of the County of Monterey.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On May 14, 2013, the Board introduced, waived the reading, and set today's date and time to consider adoption of the ordinance amending section 12.24.020 of the Monterey County Code. The County has received multiple public requests for a stop intersection on the north side of Pesante Road on Pollock Lane for the purpose of public safety where pedestrians are walking. A stop sign was installed by Caltrans on Pollock Lane at the south entrance to Pesante Road.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Office of the County Counsel has approved the ordinance as to form. The California Highway Patrol concurs with this recommendation.
FINANCING:
There is no financial impact to the General Fund. Traffic control devices are paid from the Road Fund. The cost to install the necessary signing is estimated at $800.00. There are sufficient funds available in the Road Fund (Fund 002, Unit 8195) to finance this work.
