Title: a. RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Receive a follow-up report providing additional information regarding consideration of a County Fuel Mitigation Officer position in response to wildfire concerns;
b. Consider and advise staff regarding recommendation to allocate $130,000 from General Fund Contingencies to fund increased FY 2014-15 costs for Fire Mitigation Project/Grant Management and Fire Plan Review positions supporting the County Fire Warden for six months beginning January 2015; and
c. Provide direction to staff regarding amending the Memorandum of Understanding In Support of the Monterey County Fire Warden Office.

SUMMARY:
At the June 10, 2014 budget hearings, the Board of Supervisors considered additional funding requests for FY 2014-15 expenditures that were not included in the Recommended Budget due to funding constraints. The Board requested additional information regarding consideration of a County Fuel Mitigation Officer position in response to wildfire concerns to more thoroughly understand the nature and scope of the issues, impacts, and availability of potential financing options.
