RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:

a. Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute an agreement with American Academy of Family Physicians for consultation services to developing and existing family medicine programs services at NMC for an amount not to exceed $15,800 with an agreement term May 1, 2020 through April 30, 2021.
b. Approve the NMC Chief Executive Officer's recommendation to accept non-standard indemnification, and insurance provisions within the agreement.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Expert consultants from the American Academy of Family Physicians will conduct pre-visit interviews, then come onsite to tour facilities and conduct in-person interviews to assess the current state of the integration of the Family Medicine Residency Program (FMRP) into the hospital as a whole and assess its alignment with the organization's strategic goals and operational needs.

In particular, AAFP will
1. Assist FMRP with faculty responsibility grid and aligning strategy with hospital
2. Design incremental plan to get where need to go with primary care and Clinic First initiatives
3. Analyze recruiting and retention of residents for primary care
4. Review Labor & Delivery and Inpatient Medicine services for proper staffing
