a. Consider continuing the calendar year 2021 assignments of members of the Board of Supervisors and County staff to serve on boards, committees, and commissions into calendar year 2022 until such time as the Board makes changes to those assignments as described in this report; and,

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Consider continuing the calendar year 2021 assignments of members of the Board of Supervisors and County staff to serve on boards, committees, and commissions into calendar year 2022 until such time as the Board has a policy discussion regarding how the appointments are made and makes changes to those assignments; with appointments to Board Standing Committees in effect through February 8, 2022, appointments to Board Ad Hoc Committees in effect through December 31, 2022, and appointments to all other agencies, JPAs and miscellaneous appointments through March 31, 2022; and,
b. Consider approving reconstitution of certain Board Ad Hoc Committees with termination criteria.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
No current County Code provision or Board of Supervisors' Policy exists to provide direction on the annual appointment of Board Members or staff to various Board committees and external agencies. The Board's past practice at the beginning of each calendar year has been for the incoming Chair of the Board of Supervisors to propose the appointment of Board members to serve on a variety of standing and ad hoc committees of the Board, and also to a number of external boards, committees, commissions and other governmental entities which require representation of the County by a member of the Board of Supervisors or staff. These appointments have generally remained in place for the calendar year unless and until modified by subsequent action by the Board.
