RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve expenditure of $6,328.57 from the Board of Supervisors (District 3) discretionary funds to reimburse the City of Soledad for costs incurred in implementing the Veterans Banner Program, which honors and recognizes local veterans for their service and dedication to our nation.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The City of Soledad’s Veterans Banner Program honors local service members by displaying personalized street banners throughout the city. This request authorizes reimbursement to the City for related program costs using District 3 discretionary funds.
The program promotes civic pride, community engagement, and recognition of veterans’ service. It provides a meaningful public benefit by strengthening community connections and fostering appreciation for those who have served.
PUBLIC PURPOSE FINDINGS:
In approving this expenditure, the Board of Supervisors finds that the expenditure is for a public purpose and the transaction is not prohibited by Article XVI, Section 6 of the California Constitution. Any benefit to an individual is incidental to the significant public purpose identified in the description above.
FINANCING:
There is no impact to the General Fund. Funds will be allocated from the Third District’s discretionary budget.
