RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:

a. Authorize the Chief Executive Officer for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute a Non-Standard agreement with HPC International, Inc. dba HPC for online medical journals and librarian services at NMC for a maximum County obligation of $193,540 for the term of January 1, 2026 through December 2028.
b. Approve the NMC’s Chief Executive Officer’s recommendation to accept non-standard indemnification, and limitations on liability provisions within the agreement.


SUMMARY:
Natividad Medical Center will receive a comprehensive suite of library support services through HPC. These services are designed to enhance access to medical literature and maintain a current and functional virtual library presence for staff and providers. HPC will provide a range of services including library management, subscription oversight, and budget monitoring to ensure the library remains current and cost-effective. They will maintain and update the virtual library webpage monthly to keep content accurate and relevant. A master’s-trained medical librarian will offer on-demand research support, literature searches, article requests, and manage InterLibrary Loan services and general inquiries.
