a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services, or his designee, to sign an agreement with the Regents of the University of California, U.C. Davis Extension, in the amount of $71,100 for the provision of staff training for the period July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, including non-standard mutual indemnity; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services, or his designee, to sign up to three (3) amendments to this agreement, where the total amendments do not exceed 10% of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Approve and authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services, or his designee, to sign an agreement with the Regents of the University of California, U.C. Davis Extension, in the amount of $71,100 for the provision of staff training for the period July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, including non-standard mutual indemnity; and
b. Authorize the Director of the Department of Social Services, or his designee, to sign up to three (3) amendments to this agreement, where the total amendments do not exceed 10% of the original contract amount, and do not significantly change the scope of work.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Under this contract, U.C. Davis Extension will provide the Aging and CalWORKs Employment Services, Community Benefits, Administrative Services and Human Resources Branches with training to enhance worker skills essential for providing quality customer service to the community. The specific topics will be determined at a later time. The agreement provides for twenty (20) units (days) of training.
