RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Receive a presentation from the Housing Authority of the County Monterey of their accomplishments and initiatives to provide affordable housing and related services to eligible residents of Monterey County for Fiscal Years 2022 to 2024; and
b. Provide direction to County staff as necessary.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Board of Supervisors will receive a presentation from the new Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Monterey (“HACM”), Zulieka Boykin, on activities and services provided by HACM for Fiscal Years 2022 to 2024, in partnership with Roxanne Wilson, the Director of the County Administrative Office Homelessness Strategies and Initiatives Division.
HACM is a quasi-governmental agency and is the largest housing and housing assistance organization in Monterey County, supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and State of California housing programs to provide short and long-term supportive housing and rental assistance to low-and moderate-income residents, ensuring long-term housing solutions for eligible Monterey County residents.
HACM’s presentation will include a progress report on recent key initiatives and accomplishments, operational and leadership improvements, updates to housing assistance programs and new housing initiatives, technology and administrative changes to strengthen leadership and improvements to employee engagement and morale, and future development plans to expand the number of affordable housing units in Monterey County.
