SUBJECT: a. Award annual construction contract to Norcal Contractor, low bidder,
in an amount not to exceed $150,000 for the annual maintenance of
park roadways at Laguna Seca Recreation Area, for the calendar year ending
December 31, 2011, Bid No.10289; and
b. Authorize the Chair of the Board to sign the contract
DEPARTMENT: Parks
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Award annual construction contract to Norcal Contractor, low bidder, in an amount not to
exceed $150,000 for the annual maintenance of park roadways at Laguna Seca Recreation
Area, for the calendar year ending December 31, 2011, Bid No.10289;
b. Authorize the Chair of the Board to sign the contract
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This project will provide for up to $150,000 worth of roadway patching and pavement repairs at
Laguna Seca Recreation Area for the calendar year 2011. The project was approved for solicitation
of bids on March 1, 2011.
For the purposes of comparison, bids were tendered on the basis of estimated quantities of work.
Attached is the certified list of the five bids received by the County Purchasing Agent. Of the4 e--(~
bids received, Norcal Contractor tendered the lowest bid of $202,440. The annual contract
authorizes work based on individual unit prices up to, but not exceeding, $150,000
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel has approved the construction contract as to form and County Purchasing has
approved the annual bid process.
FINANCING:
There is no effect to General Fund Contribution as a result of this action. Appropriations for the road
maintenance are budgeted in Fiscal Year 2010-11 Approved Budget for Parks Department 7500,
PAR001, Unit 8146 and have also been included in the department's Requested Budget for Fiscal
