RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Adopt a Resolution to amend the Personnel Policies and Practices Resolution No. 98-394 to:
a. Retitle the classification of Staff Biologist to Agricultural Programs Biologist, and;
b. Direct the Human Resources Office to incorporate the approved changes.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Monterey County's Staff Biologist recently retired after 39 years of service. Prior to recruiting and hiring to fill the position, the Agricultural Commissioner's Office requested CPS HR Consulting to assist them in revising and updating the class specification, which had become outdated. A revised class specification has been developed to reflect the current needs of the Agricultural Commissioner's Office. The revised class specification also changes the title from Staff Biologist to the more appropriate title of Agricultural Programs Biologist.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Human Resources Department has reviewed and approved the revised class specification.
FINANCING:
This action will have no fiscal impact, as no change to the salary is being recommended.
