Report

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Parks Commission:

Discuss potential County of Monterey Parks and Lakes Division projects that could be funded with Measure AA revenue.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

In November 2024, the voters of the County of Monterey (County) approved a 1% sales tax increase for the unincorporated areas of the County.  The revenue generated from Measure AA is discretionary funding and can be used for a myriad of projects and services throughout the County.  Prior to passage of Measure AA, the County conducted public meetings focusing on parks, roads and public safety.  In January 2025, the Board of Supervisors formed the Measure AA Oversight Ad Hoc Committee.

Staff requests that the Parks Commission discuss potential projects that could be funded by Measure AA, in preparation for advisement to the Oversight Ad Hoc Committee.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
