RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Service Employee International Union (SEIU) Local 521 Resident Physicians Unit R for the period January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2017.
SUMMARY/ DISCUSSION:
The County entered into negotiations with the Resident Physicians on November 5, 2014. On June 24, 2015, the SEIU Local 521 Resident Physicians Unit R ratified a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the County of Monterey. The terms and conditions of the MOU are now submitted for approval.
The SEIU Local 521 Resident Physicians Unit R MOU provides for increases to base wages and benefits as outlined in the MOU.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The SEIU Local 521 Resident Physicians Unit R members and Natividad Medical Center staff contributed to the development of the MOU as presented.
FINANCING:
This agreement provides for an overall increase of $119,320 over three years, broken down by fiscal year as follows: the annualized cost is $58,721 in FY 2014-2015, $37,638 in FY 2015-2016 and $22,961 in FY 2016-2017 for Natividad Medical Center.
