Approve and authorize the Director of Health, or Assistant Director of Health, to accept a grant from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) with funding provided by the Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) in the amount of $2,000 for projects related to enhancing conformance with Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Health Department submitted a grant application in the amount of $2,000 for the completion of a project related to "Standard 3" of the "Retail Program Standards" conducted by the Environmental Health Bureau's Consumer Health Protection Service (CHPS). This standard applies when using HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) principles to control risk factors in food inspection programs. The goal of this standard is a regulatory inspection system that uses the above noted HACCP principles to identify risk factors to achieve corrective action for recurring risk factors using newly implemented digital tablets. These grant funds will help CHPS develop a comprehensive process for repeat violators to increase compliance by paying for staff time in relation to this project.
