RECOMMENDATION:
The Parks Commission is asked to receive a report of the 2025 Parks Special Events held in County parks, and provide comment or recommendations to staff.
Summary/DISCUSSION:
At the June 5, 2025, Parks Commission meeting, Commissioner Shawne Ellerbee requested a report on the Special Events held in County parks for calendar year 2025.
As of July 30, 2025, Parks has issued twenty-two (22) Special Event Use Permits, two (2) Special Use Permits, and one (1) Commercial Use Permit for activities held in County Parks (Attachment A). Ten (10) additional events are scheduled between August 1 - November 1, 2025.
In celebration of National Parks Month, the Parks and Lakes Division held a ParksRX event in Toro Park on July 13, 2025. The event was held in collaboration with the Blue Zone Project, Monterey County Health Department, Monterey Regional Park District, Transportation Agency of Monterey County and Ventana Wildlife Society.
In addition to the confirmed special events, Parks is also considering Parks sponsored community events for the fall, such as a food truck festival, drive in movie night and additional Park Rx events.
