RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and Authorize the Director of Health or Assistant Director of Health to execute a Standard Agreement with Monterey Bay Analytical Services, Inc. in the amount of $45,000, for the retroactive period from April 1, 2020 through August 31, 2023 to continue the provision of environmental laboratory testing/analysis.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Monterey County Health Department's Public Health Laboratory (PH Lab) provides environmental testing to support the programs of the Health Department as well as hospitals, clinics, health care providers, private businesses, citizens, local, state, and federal authorities. The Public Health and Environmental Health Laboratories were established under the authority of section 101150 of the Health and Safety Code. The laboratory is certified by the California State Department of Health (DHS #0904) and the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CLIA #050643583). It also operates a co-located State Certified Environmental Laboratory for testing environmental samples and food for disease causing organisms and toxic chemicals. The start date of this Agreement is retroactive to April 1, 2020 due to the length of time it took to negotiate with the vendor the additional terms needed for this Agreement.
