RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

Approve the Plans and Specifications for the Natividad Medical Center, Project #9600-35 - Sterilizer Replacement

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Central Sterile is on the second floor of building 580 on the Natividad Medical Center (NMC) campus. This department decontaminates surgical instruments using two existing sterilizers for the Surgery Department. This project is to replace two end of life Amsco Steam Sterilizers with two new Steris Steam Sterilizers.

In 2012, NMC contracted with Paul Davis Architects from the Architectural Master agreement (MA 21) to provide drawings and specifications for the Sterilizer Replacement Project. On July 9, 2013 NMC was notified that the project drawings and specification were approved by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
County Counsel have reviewed and approved the Plans and Specifications as to legal form The Auditor-Controller has reviewed and approved this project as to fiscal provisions.
The project has been approved by the NMC Finance Committee and NMC Board of Trustees.
NMC has support from the Budget Committee on August 28, 2013, and the Capital Improvement Committee on September 4, 2013.

FINANCING:
Natividad Medical Center's capital budget for the Radiology Equipment Replacement project has a surplus remaining in the amount of $287,303 in the approved Fiscal Year 2013/2014 Capital Budget #B14-2014-X110. Capital in the amount of $200,000 will be augmented from this budget and utilized to fund construction for the Sterilizer Replacement project. There is no impact to the General Fund.
