RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a) Approve and authorize the Director of the Monterey County Military & Veteran's Affairs to sign an agreement for $220,281 with San Benito County to provide a part-time Veteran's Services Representative to San Benito County for the period July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2017.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
This agreement renews services for veterans between Monterey and San Benito counties for the next three years. Pursuant to the California Military and Veteran's Code, this agreement provides San Benito County with a part-time staff position for Veteran's Affairs. Services will be provided in San Benito County 7 hours a day, three (3) days a week, and 4 hours one (1) day a week. This position will assist San Benito County veterans in pursuing claims relevant to their rights and privileges under the Military and Veteran's Code. This agreement was delayed coming forward for Board approval due to delayed administrative processing at San Benito County.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The Auditor-Controller and Purchasing have reviewed and approved this agreement. County Counsel has approved the agreement as to form.
FINANCING:
Under this agreement San Benito County will reimburse the County of Monterey for a part-time staff position up to a maximum of $73,427 per Fiscal Year. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues in SOC003 are included in the FY 2014/15 Adopted Budget. Approval of this action has no impact on the County General Fund.
