RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:

Authorize the Interim Chief Executive Officer for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or a designee to execute Amendment No. 3 to the Agreement (A-17319) with META Dynamic, Inc. for the rental of neurosurgery equipment plus associated services, adding $200,000 for a revised total Agreement amount not to exceed $700,000, with no change to the term of April 15, 2024 through April 14, 2027.

SUMMARY:

Approval of this Amendment No. 3 will increase the funding under the Agreement with META Dynamic, Inc for intraoperative Image Guided Surgery (IGS) navigation equipment and technical support services. The Neuro Navigation system provided by META Dynamic, Inc. is utilized extensively by NMC’s neurosurgical staff to perform complex cranial and spinal procedures and additional funding is required to support current utilization levels through the remainder of the Agreement term.

DISCUSSION:

Intraoperative Image Guided Surgery (IGS) technology allows surgeons to perform procedures in surgical sites where normal anatomical landmarks may be obscured by tumors, infection, fractures, or previous surgeries. The use of IGS provides real-time navigation during surgery and has been shown to improve surgical accuracy while supporting positive patient outcomes, including reduced complications, increased disease removal, and decreased length of stay.
