Adopt an ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 766 relating to County holidays.
Report
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt an ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 766 relating to County holidays.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On October 26, 2021, the Board introduced, waived reading, and set for adoption on November 16, 2021, an ordinance of the County of Monterey repealing Ordinance No. 766 relating to County holidays. As adoption of the ordinance did not appear on the November 16, 2021, it is appropriate to adopt now.

Ordinance No. 766 was adopted in 1951 to provide for County holidays. The ordinance refers to the Political Code, which is the predecessor of the current Government Code and is outdated as new holidays have been established. In addition, current County holidays are set forth in Personnel Practices and Policies Resolution No. 98-394 ("PPPR"). It is therefore recommended to repeal Ordinance No. 766. A copy of the ordinance as introduced is enclosed as Attachment A and a copy of the Board Report for that action is enclosed as Attachment B.

Therefore, we request the Board adopt the Ordinance.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The County Administrative Office and County Counsel concur in the recommendation.

FINANCING:
There is no financial impact with the adoption of the resolution.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:
The recommended action addresses the Board of Supervisors' Administration Strategic Initiative and demonstrates the County's commitment to meeting the Board's initiatives by attracting, recruiting, and retaining a diverse, talented work force that supports the mission of Monterey County.
