RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

 

Authorize the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office to receive funding from the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program Solicitation FY 2020 Formula Grant Solicitation CFDA #16.034, in the amount of $58,337.00.

 

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office submitted an application for emergency supplemental funding to the United States Department of Justice, CDFA 16.034 to relieve some of the burden of additional costs and additional labor required to comply with Federal, State and County changes instituted in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Office has utilized FEMA and OES Personal Protective Equipment (hereinafter “PPE”) and sanitizers, and has collaborated with other agencies to reduce expenditures, but was forced to purchase supplies, phones and information technology devices through other channels.  The Office has also incurred significant overtime charges related to the pandemic.

N/A

 

FINANCING:

There will be no new net county cost to the FY 20-21 County General Fund.
