RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors nominate one member of the Board of Supervisors to serve on the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Board of Directors, and one member of the Board of Supervisors to serve as alternate, for a one-year term of office beginning on November 28, 2017.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Under the provisions of the CSAC Constitution, members of the Board of Directors and alternates are nominated by their respective boards of supervisors and appointed by the CSAC Executive Committee to one-year terms of office commencing with the first day of the CSAC annual conference. This year the CSAC annual conference will begin on November 28, 2017. Any member of the Board of Supervisors is eligible to serve on the CSAC Board of Directors. Once the Board has made these nominations, the County Administrative Office - Intergovernmental & Legislative Affairs Division staff will notify CSAC as appropriate.
Per the Monterey County Board of Supervisors Legislative Program, Section (I) (f) of Policies Governing Legislative Activities, adopted by the Board on December 6, 2016:
Representation on the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Board of Directors: The Board of Supervisors shall nominate Board members to represent Monterey County as director and alternate to the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Board of Directors. As the County representative the director or alternate shall render votes consistent with the Legislative Program or subsequent majority action by the Board of Supervisors.
