RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors:

Authorize the Deputy Purchasing Agent for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) or his designee to execute an agreement with Key & Young, Inc. dba Commercial Service Co. to provide parts, installation and repair services on commercial refrigeration, HVAC systems and food service equipment for an amount not to exceed $200,000 with an agreement term October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2024.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Key & Young, Inc. d.b.a. Commercial Service Company specializes in replacement and repair services including procurement of parts and supplies needed for related repairs at NMC for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems and commercial refrigeration equipment, including medical grade refrigerator s and medical freezers that are regulated and audited by The Joint Commission (TJC) and the state of California through Title 22 and Title 24.

These systems and components are vital to patient care as they support equipment and processes in various units, including Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Labor & Delivery, and Food Services. They also maintain acceptable indoor air quality through proper ventilation which is a key factor in reducing the spread of airborne diseases i n addition to maintaining the heating and cooling of the entire hospital.

This new agreement replaces an older agreement from 2011 and contains the same terms and conditions.
