RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors receive a presentation from the Human Resources Department on Assembly Bill No. 2561 - Local Public Employees: Vacant Positions.

 

SUMMARY:

On September 22, 2024, Assembly Bill No. 2561 (AB 2561) - Local public employees; vacant positions was signed into law and codified under Government Code Section 3502.3.

 

DISCUSSION:

Effective January 1, 2025, AB 2561 requires a public agency to present the status of vacancies and recruitment and retention efforts during a public hearing before the governing board at least once per fiscal year prior to adopting an annual budget.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT/COMMITTEE ACTIONS:

The County Administrative Office and the Office of the County Counsel.

 

FINANCING:

There is no impact on the County General Fund in the preparation and presentation of this information to meet the requirements of AB 2561.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS:

The proposed recommended actions support the Board of Supervisors’ Dynamic Organization and Employer of Choice Strategic Plan Goal.
