RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors accept the Design Presentation for the Jail Housing Addition, Project 8819.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Acceptance of the recommended Design Presentation provides information and a baseline for proceeding from the Schematic Design Phase to the Design Development Phase.
On July 9, 2013, the Board of Supervisors accepted the Pre-Design Architectural Program & Conceptual Report for the Project for submittal to the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) for approval. BSCC approved the Pre-Design Architectural Program and Conceptual Report for the Project on September 13, 2013.
Schematic design approval was delayed two months due to the re-submittals by the design team. The lost time will be recovered during the Design Development and Construction Document phases. The Project is presently scheduled to receive approval of Preliminary Plans in June 2015. The Project is on budget.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
The CAO, RMA-Public Works, and the Sheriff's Office are working jointly with BSCC to meet all State-mandated milestones to maintain the conditional award. These actions were considered by the Budget Committee on January 28, 2015 and by the Capital Improvement Committee on February 9, 2015
FINANCING:
Total estimated Project cost is $88,900,000, of which $8,900,000 was approved by the Board of Supervisors as the County's match. To-date expenditures total $1,968,157, including current year expenditures estimated at $255,813. The remaining County match balance of $6,931,843 is available in the General Fund Capital Project Assignment (Account 3123) for the Project design and environmental phase
