RECOMMENDATION/SUMMARY:

a.                     Authorize and approve the Director of the Monterey County Free Libraries (“MCFL”) to execute a three (3) year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the term of July 16, 2024 to July 15, 2027 with the Ventana Wildlife Society (“VWS”) to partner with Monterey County on behalf of MCFL and

b.                     Authorize the Library Director to execute up to three (3) future annual amendments to the agreement that do not significantly alter the scope of work.

 

DISCUSSION:

 

The Ventana Wildlife Society (VWS) offers programs and workshops connecting people with the natural habitat and animal life of the central coast.  Programs enriching knowledge of the environment and sustainability are popular in the library and this partnership will enable more opportunities for all ages.

 

This MOU outlines roles and responsibilities for this collaboration.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

 

The Office of County Counsel has reviewed this item and approves as to form.

 

FINANCING:

 

There is no funding required for this item.

 

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

 

Additional enrichment programs at library branches through partnerships with local environmental agencies and community groups supports the goals of the County of Monterey.
