Receive an update on the current Board of Director’s Terms.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The 1990 Agency Act established a Board of Directors with each member holding a 4-year term and the authority to adopt Ordinances to implement the Agency Act. The initial Board Member appointments were staggered to reduce the number of member terms expiring in the same year. Adoption of Ordinance No. 3559 (attached), by the Agency’s Board of Supervisors on August 27, 1991, established the Board of Directors to manage the governance of the Agency. It states that each director shall serve 4 years except for the initial directors. Those initial terms were that three directors serve two-year terms, three directors serve three-year terms and the last three serve four-year terms. After that each director was to serve four-year terms going forward.
Subsequently Ordinance No. 3745 (attached) was adopted by the Agency Board of Supervisors on January 25, 1994, amending the Agency Act to include uniform ending dates for the Board of Directors terms. That date is December 31st.
Our current Board of Directors terms are not aligned with this initial staggered plan, that was to be maintained going forward. There are four Directors that have a term ending this year, one ending in 2027, one ending in 2028, and three ending in 2029. The Agency would like to re-establish the staggered terms and are researching the initial appointments to bring back at a future meeting. The current term end dates are listed below.
