RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health to sign a service agreement with Weber, Hayes & Associates, Inc. in the amount of $2,935.00 for the period of July 1, 2013 to September 30, 2013 for the development of a soil vapor intrusion plan for required screening in response to the Water Board's approval of the additional soil vapor sampling tasks in their directive dated June 28, 2013. This project includes field planning and inspections to assess potentially impacted structures and collection of the required sub slab vapor samples.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Environmental Health Bureau (EHB) entered into a Services Agreement with Weber, Hayes, & Associates, Inc. (WHA), effective November 14, 2011 to June 30, 2012 for the purpose of installing down gradient monitoring wells, sampling and assessments associated with property at 53 Porter Drive, Pajaro, CA. A subsequent amendment extended the agreement to June 30, 2013. On June 28, 2013, the California Regional Water Control Board requested the Monterey County Environmental Health Bureau to conduct soil vapor sampling tasks on property located at 53 Porter Drive, Pajaro, CA, for the purpose of developing a soil vapor intrusion plan for screening of down gradient buildings located in the footprint of the high concentration benzene plume.
