SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Homelessness Strategies and Initiatives Division (CAO-HSI) of the County Administrative Office is tasked with developing, coordinating, and managing the County's efforts to address homelessness. This includes creating a comprehensive strategic plan, setting priorities, and overseeing the County's interdepartmental and inter-agency response to homelessness. The Division is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, evaluating, and implementing countywide initiatives, programs, services, and policies aimed at reducing homelessness. To achieve this, it works closely with state and local agencies, non-profits, and community groups to identify, develop, and evaluate solutions that mitigate the impact of homelessness in its various forms.
This presentation is intended to update the Board of Supervisors on CAO-HSI's activities since its establishment in 2022 and highlights key initiatives, actions, and functions of the Division, emphasizing its significance and progress toward the overarching goal of reducing homelessness in Monterey County.
BACKGROUND:
Referral No. 2021.23 was submitted by Supervisor Alejo on October 29, 2021, and assigned by the County Administrative Office on November 2, 2021.
