RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Economic Development Committee:
Receive a presentation from Monterey Regional Airport.

SUMMARY:
The Monterey Peninsula Airport is a California Public Agency and was created in 1941. It is governed by five publicly elected Board Members. It is not incorporated into the city of the county and its boundaries encompass the cities of Carmel, Del Rey Oaks, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Sand City and portion of Seaside, Pebble Beach, Carmel Highlands, and the west end of Carmel Valley and the Monterey-Salinas Highway to Laureles Grade Road. Over the years, the airport has experienced continual change and updating in areas of physical infrastructure, staffing, air lines, types of aircraft, military usage, and most of all community growth and needs.

DISCUSSION:
The Monterey Regional Airport is evolving. Construction of a new passenger terminal building along with new parking facilities, roadway access and airfield improvement is underway. This presentation will give a description of the current project that is underway at the Monterey Regional Airport while also presenting visual displays of what the new terminal will look like as well as describe the economic impact of the project, increased passenger safety and convenience while reducing congestion.

Staff consulted with County Counsel.

Receiving this report has no financial impact.
