RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Board of Supervisors authorize the Purchasing Manager for Natividad Medical Center (NMC) to execute Amendment No. 2 to the Agreement (A-12223) with Robert Egnew for Senior Management Consulting Services at NMC, extending the Agreement to June 30, 2014 and adding $130,000 for a revised total Agreement amount not to exceed $329,000 in the aggregate.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Mr. Robert Egnew, management consultant, has long established working relationships with individual healthcare providers, healthcare organizations and non-profit agencies throughout Monterey County. He served for many years as a senior executive within the Monterey County Health Department. He has extensive knowledge of the County's policies and procedures as well as the knowledge and experience in the partnering with others in the provision of integrated, comprehensive, coordinated healthcare services.

During the first two terms of this Agreement, Mr. Egnew worked closely with NMC and CAO executive leadership in identifying critical success factors to improve NMC's overall performance in the dynamic, rapidly changing healthcare delivery environment. His skills and experience will continue to be needed to assist NMC with the rollout of healthcare reform and the implementation of new partnership arrangements with local hospitals, clinics, and community based healthcare providers.

Worker's Compensation Insurance Exemption:
Contractor is the sole provider of services with no permanent or temporary workers. Accordingly, Worker's Compensation Insurance is not required.
