Report

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Monterey County Water Resources Agency Board of Supervisors:

Introduce, waive reading, and set for adoption on February 12, 2019, an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 3609 of the Monterey County Water Resources Agency to increase compensation paid to the Board of Directors of the Monterey County Water Resources Agency from $50.00 per meeting to $100.00 per meeting.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:

Monterey County Water Resources Agency (“Agency”) Ordinance No. 3609, adopted on June 9, 1992, sets Agency Board of Director compensation at $50.00 per meeting (Attachment 1).  On October 15, 2018, the Board of Directors directed staff to bring an ordinance to the Board of Supervisors to increase the rate of compensation to $100.00 per meeting so that it is commensurate with other similar local governmental bodies.  (Attachment 2).  The Board of Director’s Bylaws will subsequently need to be amended to account for this change.  For budgetary reasons, the increase in compensation will be effective at the start of Fiscal Year 19/20.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

County Counsel has reviewed the ordinance as to form.

FINANCING:

The Agency will properly budget for this increase in compensation in Fiscal Year 19/20.
