Adopt a Resolution to:

e. Remove reference to Natividad Medical Center

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt the attached amended General Assistance Resolution with changes as follows:
a. Approving modification of terms for the General Assistance Program in regards to cooperation with the County SSI Advocacy Program;
b. Replace reference for Social Services with Social and Employment Services;
c. Change time period for filing formal appeals;
d. Change CalWORKs time limits; and
e. Remove reference to Natividad Medical Center

SUMMARY:
The General Assistance grant continues to be based upon a standard of aid, which includes allowances for household operations and shelter. The amendments to the terms and language are consistent with CalWORKs and the Welfare and Institutions Codes.

DISCUSSION:
The Resolution incorporates the following changes:

1. Aligns the General Assistance (GA) resolution language with that of the Welfare and Institutions Code 11454(b) and 17021(a) in relation to the CalWORKs program the following additions have been incorporated; Recipients of CalWORKs who have reached their forty eight (48) month time limit are ineligible until their youngest child turns eighteen (18) years of age.

2. Provides that an applicant or recipient, who states that they are disabled, is required to apply for Social Security benefits (SSI). Require that the applicant or recipient is mandated to comply with the County SSI Advocacy Program which will assist them in the SSI application process.
