RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution:
a. Accepting the Certificate of Completion for construction of the 1410 Natividad Rd, Salinas, California, Upgrade Security Fencing, Project No. 8529, Bid Package No. 10348, performed by AAA Fence Company, Inc.; and
b. Authorizing the Director of Public Works to execute and record the Notice of Completion for the 1410 Natividad Rd, Salinas, California, Upgrade Security Fencing, Project No. 8529, Bid Package No. 10348, performed by AAA Fence Company, Inc.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
On July 10, 2012, the Board of Supervisors awarded Agreement No. A-12266 to AAA Fence Company, Inc. (AAA Fence) for construction of the 1410 Natividad Rd, Salinas, California, Upgrade Security Fencing, Project No. 8529, Bid Package No. 10348 (Project), at the Adult Detention Facility in the total amount of $146,825. On September 6, 2012, the contractor mobilized and began with the upgrades consisting of repair and replacement of existing fencing materials. The County approved one change in the contract work optioning for upgraded razor wire at the fence on the eastern perimeter and some unscoped additional minor repairs. Final AAA Fence contract value is $151,473. The work was completed within budget; however, it was completed 23 days beyond the scheduled completion date due primarily to delays by the contractor in ordering and receiving equipment for the project.
