RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:

a. Ratify and Authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer to execute an Agreement for $72,000 with Dominion Voting System, Inc. to provide hardware maintenance and support services for the period June 26, 2014 to June 25, 2017; and
b. Authorize the Contracts/Purchasing Officer to execute two future one-year Extensions which do not significantly impact the scope of work or exceed $30,000 per additional year.

SUMMARY:
This license agreement is a renewal of the existing relationship and agreement with Dominion Voting Systems, Inc. for hardware maintenance and support services for three 400C tabulation machines. This hardware enables the Elections Department to tabulate votes.

The total estimated cost for the Agreement period of June 26, 2014 to June 25, 2017 is $72,000. If the additional potential extensions are issued, the total cost to 2019 will not exceed $132,000 for the five-year period.
A copy of the Agreement is on file with the Clerk to the Board.

DISCUSSION:
On June 4, 2010, Dominion Voting Systems acquired Sequoia Voting Systems' (Sequoia) inventory and all intellectual property including Sequoia's precinct and central count optical scans, BPS, WinEDS and 400C systems purchased and used by the Elections Department since 2005.
