RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
Approve and authorize the Director of Health or Assistant Director of Health to execute Amendment No. 1 to Memorandum of Understanding A-15467 with Soledad Unified School District, to add $92,392 of additional services for the provision by the County of mental health services to students, for a revised total MOU amount not to exceed $532,049, for the same term July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022.
SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
Soledad Unified School District has had a long-standing partnership with the Monterey County Health Department, Behavioral Health Bureau (MCBHB) for MCBHB to deploy Psychiatric Social Workers to provide therapeutic services for students identified as having trouble with their educational goals due to social, emotional, or behavioral issues. This Amendment No. 1 revises Program 1: General Education payment provisions, adds Program 2: Interconnected Systems Framework to provide Mental Health Student Services Act (MHSSA) grant funded mental health support services, and adds Program 3: Social Worker services.
This work supports the following Monterey County Health Department 2018-2022 Strategic Plan Initiative: 3. Ensure access to culturally and linguistically appropriate, customer-friendly, quality health services. It also supports one of the ten essential public health services, specifically: 7. Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provisions of health care when otherwise unavailable.
