RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors:
a. Adopt Plans and Special Provisions for the Carmel Valley Road Resurfacing, Project No. 5525 (Project) to resurface Carmel Valley Road from Via Del Cinco to Miramonte Road; and
b. Authorize the Director of Public Works, Facilities, and Parks to advertise the Project's "Notice to Bidders" in the Monterey County Weekly.

SUMMARY/DISCUSSION:
The Carmel Valley Road Resurfacing Project, in general, consists of performing localized pavement repairs and overlay it with micro-surfacing. The project is to extend the life of the existing pavement and provide a smooth wearing surface. The project limits of the Project are from Via Del Cinco to Miramonte Road, approximately 3.5 miles in length.

The bid opening for the Project is set for July 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, County Administration Building, Government Center, 168 West Alisal Street, First Floor, Salinas, California 93901. Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2024.

On May 15, 2024, in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the Department of Public Works, Facilities and Parks (PWFP) filed a Notice of Exemption for the Project with the State Clearinghouse (SCH), a division of the Governor's Office of Planning and Research (OPR) which coordinates State-level review of environmental documents prepared pursuant to CEQA.
